In Week 3 Chris Pugh (a golf player) came to teach us some golf skills. He taught us how to hit a ball properly and the technique for hitting a ball so it will travel straight and far. We all had a fantastic time with Chris. Check out the movie.

Science Roadshow
On the 14 October 2008, the whole of the Senior Syndicate gathered together at Motueka High School for the Science Roadshow. This was a great opportunity to experiment with objects and understand more about science.
As soon as we got there we gathered with the other schools visiting at the time. A show started and based on chemistry in the kitchen. They asked the audience if we helped out in the kitchen, and then asked if we thought we were scientists and nobody said yes. The answer should have been yes because science is used in the kitchen every day. Another part of the show was taking the purple juice from boiling a red cabbage and using different liquids to change the color of the cabbage juice. He used cooking oil, lemon juice and meths. With these additions, colors like: green, blue and pink formed from the different liquids he mixed in with the purple juice.
After the show was over we the got time to go around with our clipboards and gathered our information on the theme we were given.
Once we gathered the information we got spare time to browse around, learn and experiment with objects.
Then after some time there was another show ready for us to watch. This next show was on electricity and how it works. The most interesting part was when they stuck a gherkin onto a couple of metal sticks, they then switched a button on and it formed a little explosion inside the gherkin. It happened because of the salty water that helped the explosion form.
And with an ending of the show we headed back to school. Here were some comments on how the day went: Maddy said "I don't really like science but I thought it was interesting." Laura's comment was "The science roadshow this year was cool, there were loads of exhibits and fun stuff to do. My favorite was the wind machine."
